Latin - Latin translation

Question
Hello Maria,

One of the units that I am assigned with in the desert has the following Latin phrase on their unit patch "UT VIVENTES RESERANTUR".  The squadron member doesn't know exactly what it means and we were wondering if you could translate it for us.

Thank you for your assistance.

Answer
Hello,

The Latin phrase “UT VIVENTES RESERANTUR” can be translated as  “In order to the living/the survivors are brought to safety” just as a motto of the 146 th AEROMEDICAL  EVACUATION SQ.

See below for grammatical / syntactic analysis.

Best regards,
Maria
_______________________________________
Analysis of  the purpose clause UT VIVENTES RESERANTUR:

-UT ( conjunction which takes the subjunctive  mood) = in order to

-VIVENTES (present participle, nominative plural of the verb VIVO, I live) = the living/ the survivors

-RESERANTUR (3rd. person plural, present subjunctive, passive voice, of the  rare verb RESERO, 3rd. conjugation, literally meaning “I sow again”, “I plant again”) = literally, “are sowed /planted again”, i.e. “are brought to safety elsewhere.”
