Question
Hi!  A friend of mine is going to propose to his girlfriend next month and wanted me to help him find the translations to Latin for these phrases...

"You are my love" and "To you, my love."  Thanks so much in advance!!

Answer
Hello,

Here are the translations you asked me:

-“Amor es meus “ (You are my love)

-“Tibi, mea dilecta"  (To you, my love)

Kind regards,
Maria

GRAMMATICAL ANALYSIS

-You are= ES (from SUM, I am)

-My= MEUS (nominative masculine agreed with the noun AMOR, 3rd.declension)

-Love = AMOR

-To you = TIBI (dative case)

-My = MEA (vocative feminine agreed with DILECTA)

-Love = DILECTA (vocative feminine of DILECTUS). Note that in this context “love” is translated as “DILECTA” just meaning something like ‘beloved  girl’.
