Question Hello Maria, and thanks for your previous answer. Is there a bibliography on the grammar of the Fibula Praenestina, Duenos Vase, Ficoroni cista, Carmen Arvale and Carmen Saliare inscriptions and prayers? Also, can you recommend me a good etymological dictionary of the Latin language (not just a dictionary of Latin, I have enough of those), preferably in English, Greek or Italian?
Thanks in advance,
Morfeas
Answer Hello,
glad to have helped you.
As for a bibliography on the grammar of the Fibula Praenestina, Duenos Vase, Ficoroni cista, Carmen Arvale and Carmen Saliare, I’m sorry, but such a bibliography could be found only in classical studies Reviews and in Classics Libraries, since Archaic Latin is an area to which only few classics scholars devote themselves.
So, I can only suggest some websites where you can read the texts of the Fibula Praenestina, Duenos Vase, Ficoroni cista, Carmen Arvale and Carmen Saliare.
Note that there is a collection of ancient Latin inscriptions: it is the “Corpus Inscriptionum Latinarum” (C.I.L.) by Theodor Mommsen ( vol.I, 1853 ) and “Inscriptiones Latinae selectae (ILS) ed. H. Dessau, Berlin 1892 – 1916.
With regard to a good etymological dictionary of the Latin language, I can recommend the following:
