Question
QUESTION: Does God exist in a physical body? A body of flesh and bone? Did God start with a mortal body (like mine) and develop into being God (as he is now)?

I have just recently started reading the Book of Mormon after living a life as a Lutheran

ANSWER: Sorry, my reply got lost in the system.

We believe that god has a body of flesh and blood, a physical body. As to the answer for your third question, the best place to start is Ether 3:14, (second half of 15) and verse 16.

If you have any further questions feel free to reply and ask another.
Also, the missionaries are always willing to answer questions.
You can also find answers at lds.org. If you just want a quick online search.
Thanks for picking me as your expert.

QUESTION: but this seems to be contrary to what the Bible teaches... should the bible not be the first authority on all things? after all Jesus is in charge of the scriptures

Answer
We believe that the Book of Mormon is another testament OF Jesus Christ.  The Book of Mormon explains what has been lost in translation in the bible. Remember that the Bible is not all that God has said and that many things in the Bible have been misunderstood and then misinterpreted.  Did you also ask this question to your missionaries?
