Latter-day Saints - fig leaf aprons

Expert: David Gross - 5/1/2009

Question
David

If God rejected the fig leaf aprons which Adam and Eve made (Gen. 3:21) then why do Mormons memorialize the fall by using fig leaf aprons in the secret temple ceremonies?

Answer
I don't consider Gen. 3:21 a rejection of the fig leaf aprons.  I think that they needed better or more suitable clothing since they were leaving the Garden of Eden.  As a practical matter coats of skins are warmer and more durable than fig leaf aprons.
