AboutGene Black Expertise I can answer questions related to LDS beliefs and history as well as doctrinal questions pertaining to the standard works (Bible, Book of Mormon, etc.) I believe strongly in personal revelation and hope that all answers I provide will be carefully considered, and prayed about before being accepted.
Experience I've been a member of the LDS Church all of my life, have served a mission for the Church, have been sealed to my wife in the Washington, DC temple, and enjoy reading books on LDS history and the teachings of the prophets.

Education/Credentials A love for people and a strong desire to seek after the word of God. I try hard to follow the command "Seek not to declare my word, but first seek to obtain my word, and then shall your tongue be loosed; then, if you desire, you shall have my Spirit and my word, yea, the power of God unto the convincing of men."
Question We now have a secretary in our Primary and I am hoping to research her role. What I know so far is that a secretary should mark our childrens attendance and record the minutes of the meetings. Can you please advise me on the full extent of a secretary's role in Primary or where I can access information for this matter?
I love you and wish you a good day!

Answer While I've held a lot of callings in the Church, Primary is one organization I've not served much in.
In general though, if you've not already done so, you should consult the Church Handbook of Instructions, Book 2, Section 5 on Primary. I don't know if it specifically addresses secretaries, but it very well may. If you don't have a copy of this manual, check with your Bishop or Branch President - they should have a copy.
Also, the Church recently added the following item which may be of use to you in general:
In general, speaking for how I've worked with secretaries in other positions such as the Elder's Quorum presidency, there is the typical secretarial role of using them to help alleviate some of the paperwork and organizational difficulties that go with the position, but I've also often used them much like a "3rd councilor" if you would - sometimes they'll have good insight you may miss.
Beyond that and whatever may be in the manual, council with your Bishop/Branch President and pray for guidance.
