About Hannah
Expertise
I can answer questions concerning standard doctrines, scriptures, curiousities, Mormon culture and society. I will not respond to debates. I'm sorry, but there are some things that I simply will not answer, not because I don't want to, but there are some things that the LDS people do not discuss casually--it's only talked about within the temple. Though I am a member, I do not believe that anyone could convert anyone to a religion over something as impersonal as the internet. So I won't even try to.

Experience
I have been a member of the LDS church for 8 years. Though I'm still a young person, I can answer most things about the church.

Latter-day Saints - salvation

Expert: Hannah - 1/29/2007

Question
I was reading your response explaining salvation and stopped when I read that you said that there was a full out war in heaven. How in goodness name could there be a WAR in heaven. Its like two opposite things. What is heaven then according to LDS? Is there really war and sadness? Are Mormons going to have a better place in heaven than say Lutherans or baptists? and if so, why?

Answer
Heaven is heaven. There won't be war in sadness in the after life, because the righteous will be in their kingdoms, and the unrighteous will be in their kingdoms. There will be eternal increase, and such, which makes it (in my opinion) better than the typical Christian heaven. However, in the pre-earth life, there was good and evil. The evil was being cast out of heaven. In the Book of Mormon, the prophet Helaman is told that he has permission to go to war, to defend his God, country, religion, family, lands, etc. against the Lamanites. In the Books of Moses, Joshua leads the Children of Israel through many wars to purge the land of their Inheritance. So, it doesn't seem at all unlikely (to me at least), that in order to purge heaven, a war could ensue. But, remember, I'm not an official spokesperson for the church, and I've never been to heaven (that I can remember.)So, we can only guess for now.
