About Hannah
Expertise
I can answer questions concerning standard doctrines, scriptures, curiousities, Mormon culture and society. I will not respond to debates. I'm sorry, but there are some things that I simply will not answer, not because I don't want to, but there are some things that the LDS people do not discuss casually--it's only talked about within the temple. Though I am a member, I do not believe that anyone could convert anyone to a religion over something as impersonal as the internet. So I won't even try to.

Experience
I have been a member of the LDS church for 8 years. Though I'm still a young person, I can answer most things about the church.

Question
is it true that you believe that when you die you become your own god of another universe ? and if so, does that mean we are living in a universe that belongs to a past mormon ?

Answer
Maybe and sort of.  We believe that we CAN become a god of another universe.  It is called exaltation. You have to be quite faithful, and just "being a Mormon" isn't enough to receive exaltation.  You must be righteous, and one that a lot of people think is weird, live in a marriage worthy of eternity.  This marriage can take place after death if you never had the opportunity to marry or something.  God won't deny blessings because you never had the chance.

We are living in the universe of Heavenly Father.  Heavenly Father, according to what we know, is presumably an exalted being from another universe.  However, since Mormon is a nickname coming from the name of an ancient prophet of this earth, Heavenly Father was probably not Mormon. Our official name is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the followers of this church being officially called Latter-day Saints or shortened to LDS. We're encouraged to not refer to ourselves as Mormon, as it creates confusion as to our real name, but it is not considered an offensive term.

It is not even certain that the Plan of Salvation of our world (Christ dying for us, the pattern of judgement and the glories of our heaven) are identical to the Plan of Salvation of the universe from which Heavenly Father lived in.

In short, we can assume Heavenly Father is exalted, but the Lord has not revealed exactly how that all works.  Yes, we believe that we can become the god (or goddess if the term fits) of another universe.  Yes, gods always come in pairs.  We have a Heavenly Mother, according to LDS Doctrine.  However, though we respect her, she is not God. We also do not know very much about her, or her name.  Many Mormons feel (and it could be supported by scripture) that God purposefully keeps details concerning her secretive as to avoid her being disrespected or slandered.  She's his wife.  He loves her.

I've kind of gone off on a tangent.  Sorry.  Did I answer the question?
