Expertise
For a different viewpoint on Mormonism for your questions, try me. I am a staunch believer in the Book of Mormon and belong to another church (the Church of Christ)that is set up identically to the Biblical church. If there are things about traditional Mormonism that trouble you or you have questions about, just ask and you might find the answers from the Book of Mormon to be quite surprising. I have been studying the scriptures diligently for 16 years under the school of hard knocks... I may not have all of the answers but will sure go find them if I don`t. I`m strongest on Biblical and Book of Mormon doctrines, and am also somewhat familiar with Mormon history and archaeology.

Question
Hi,

I am LDS.  But, have come up with a question that I don't know the answer to.  I know that the Title page, was written on the golden plates by Mormon and Moroni and that Joseph Smith translated this from the plates.  But, who wrote the page after the title page, the "Introduction".  From doing some searching on the internet the best I have come up with is, "Church leaders".  If this is correct, I am trying to find out which specific church leaders wrote the introduction to the book of Mormon?

Thanks for your help.  If you find the answer would you please provide reference(s) as to where you found the answer to my question.

Answer
Hi Michael,
I will be happy to answer your questions. Please note that I am ex=LDS and belong to the original Church of Christ that believes in the Book of Mormon.
I am not certain who writes the Introduction in the Utah LDS church since I haven't been affilliated with that faction since 1983. I know the Book of Mormon that the Church of Christ publishes has an Introduction that was written by our Board of Publications. Something similar is probably the case with the LDS church too. I believe the earlier Introductions in the original Book of Mormon was probably written by Oliver Cowdery who was Joseph Smith's scribe as well as a learned school teacher and would have been best suitable for the role.
I hope this helps... you might try asking one of the LDS experts on this forum who might have a more detailed answer.

God Bless,
Mike
