Expert: Kitt Montague Date: 1/2/2008 Subject: The missing Law and Order DVD's
Question Hi, I've become a recent L&O (original) fan and currently own the DVD's (1,2,3,4,5, and 14) that are out. I try to catch the ones in between on TNT (thank God of their mini-marathons) but I'm usually busy. So I was wondering why Universal or NBC (whoever has the rights to L&O) did not come out with DVD's for the season's in between. Thanks a bunch.
Answer I'll look further into this (email me a follow up in a few days) but my best estimate is that it's a law of diminishing returns: There are probably plenty of die-hards who would want the earliest seasons, but as you get into the later years there are fewer and fewer hard-core folks who continue to buy. That said, take heart that they are continuing to put them out, if slowly -- Season 4 came out in 2005 and Season 5 made it this past April, so I imagine we'll see Season 6 if not this year than by 2009 ... we should all be in our retirement homes by the time all of the seasons make it ....
Anyway, I'll make some calls and see if I can find out more. Again, check back in a day or so.
