Law & Order - Doink, Doink sound

Expert: Kitt Montague - 3/16/2008

Question
I am wondering what actually is the "doink, doink" sound?  How is is made? Is it instruments or other materials?

Answer
It's actually a synthesized collection of multiple sounds. As far as I know, Mike Post (who does the music for the series) was behind the sound itself. It's meant to imitate the clanging of a door being shut, as in a jail cell, though frankly I don't think that's what most people think of!

Hope this helps!
