Question
How can I be on Law and Order?

Answer
Hello there! Thanks for writing.

First of all, bear in mind that I don't work for the show, don't know anyone personally who does, and so all of this is generalized. But here you go:

1) Go to New York City.
2) Get headshots taken.
3) Register with casting agents.
4) Rinse, repeat.

The truth is that there's no one way of doing it; "L&O" is an acting job out of hundreds, if not thousands, in the New York area. Almost all of the casting is done from NY; I know that Central Casting is one agency that will put your info into their files, though I think there's a fee attached. Go here: http://www.centralcasting.org/

But for most people it isn't a casual "this is my favorite show, so how do I get on it" endeavor, it's a job which hopefully leads to a career, or at least an occasional paycheck.

One other tip: Once in New York, start acting in the theater. Casting directors, producers and directors all attend off- and on-Broadway shows, and often find future talent treading the boards.

Hope this helps some!
