About Erik Smith
Expertise
I am mostly knowledgeable about the "mothership" ("Law & Order") and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent." I can answer questions about "L&O: Special Victims Unit" as well, but "Criminal Intent" is probably the show where my knowledge is the strongest

Experience
I've watched "Law & Order" since 1991. I've watched all the "L&O: SVU" and "L&O: Criminal Intent" re-runs on USA Network and Bravo. I own "Law & Order: Criminal Intent - The Complete Third Season (2003-2004)" on DVD.

Law & Order - CI

Expert: Erik Smith - 2/1/2007

Question
Hello Mr. Smith,

I initially refused to watch the CI episodes with Logan, out of protest, because I missed Goren & Eames!  But I taped them, and lately I've been getting caught up.  In the first episode with "Wheeler," Capt. Ross asks Logan how it's going with his new partner.  He adds, sarcastically, that if it doesn't work out, he can try to get Barack back.  Logan makes a face.  My question is, what happened between Logan and Barack (Annabella Sciorra)?  I thought they made a great team and seemed to get along well.  I haven't found the episode that explains their de-partnering, so if you can clue me in, I'd be very grateful!  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Jessa,

No reason was given for Barek's departure. There was never any indication of disharmony between she and Logan. Likewise, no reason was given for Ron Carver's departure. As for the actors, Annabella Sciorra wasn't happy about the lack of character development (what did she expect from a procedural?). I've heard that Courtney B. Vance left to be near his family in Los Angeles, as did Jamey Sheridan.

(Btw, I've been quite disappointed with Season Six. The only episode thus far I can say was unequivocally "good" was the last one, "Privilege", with Doris Roberts and Richard Kind.)

Sincerely,
Erik
