About Erik Smith
Expertise
I am mostly knowledgeable about the "mothership" ("Law & Order") and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent." I can answer questions about "L&O: Special Victims Unit" as well, but "Criminal Intent" is probably the show where my knowledge is the strongest

Experience
I've watched "Law & Order" since 1991. I've watched all the "L&O: SVU" and "L&O: Criminal Intent" re-runs on USA Network and Bravo. I own "Law & Order: Criminal Intent - The Complete Third Season (2003-2004)" on DVD.

Question
are they going to get a new ADA to replace C B Vance? I think Alicia Witt will be better than that peter pan looking girl, and why did they move to USA network, and why is L/O only going to be a midseason replacement this year, it is going to come on in Jan. thanks now I know where to go for my questions, thx HunnyB

Answer
Hi Hunny,

1) As far as I know, LOCI will not be getting a regular ADA. Nona Gaye was supposed to take Courtney B. Vance's place, but she left the show before production started, likely because new showrunner Warren Leight expanded his friend Eric Bogosian's role. Theresa Randle played ADA Patricia Kent in two episodes last season, but she was only billed as a "Special Guest Star", not as a series regular. As Randle is now on the Lifetime series "State of Mind" (apparently, Courtney B. Vance plays her husband!) I don't expect her to return.

2) Alicia Witt is a temporary replacement. Julianne Nicholson will return from maternity leave for the seventh Logan episode.

3) Dick Wolf et. al. moved L&O:CI to USA to avoid cancellation. The show now has a lower overhead (less expensive to produce).

4) The new L&O season will air on Sunday evenings starting in January, after the conclusion of the NFL regular season.

If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Sincerely,
Erik
