AboutErik Smith Expertise I am mostly knowledgeable about the "mothership" ("Law & Order") and "Law & Order: Criminal Intent." I can answer questions about "L&O: Special Victims Unit" as well, but "Criminal Intent" is probably the show where my knowledge is the strongest
Experience I've watched "Law & Order" since 1991. I've watched all the "L&O: SVU" and "L&O: Criminal Intent" re-runs on USA Network and Bravo. I own "Law & Order: Criminal Intent - The Complete Third Season (2003-2004)" on DVD.
Question Hi.
My sister and I are having a wee debate as to Bobby's religious background. I say that he is a "lapsed" Catholic, because of his references to his childhood. My sister says that he is Jewish, due to an episode (can't remember which) that had to do with a rabbi. Would you be a dear, and help us out please. Ta. Mary. :)
Answer Hi Mary,
Det. Goren is, indeed, a lapsed Catholic and a former altar boy (Ep. 1-4, "The Faithful"). Goren's friend Max (the rabbi) helped translate a message from Arameic (Ep. 2-8, "The Pilgrim"), but his being friends with a rabbi does not mean that Goren is Jewish (he may have been a childhood friend, for instance).
