Question
hi i am in love with law and order (mainly the original) but i am writing a thesis is conjunction with selected episodes from the "lost seasons", those not on dvd, specifically season 6 episode 10-- i was wondering where you think i should look for this episode- my independent research surrounds WATCHING the episode so obviously i have a problem because i can not seem to find it anywhere!! any help you could offer me would be greatly appreciated. thanks a lot.

Answer
Hi there!

I'm curious about your thesis! Do tell more if you like!

OK, so you're asking two questions: One, you're looking for episodes (plural) from the seasons not yet on DVD. Then you seem to be looking for a specific "episode." The point is, whether they're multiple or plural, if they're not on DVD this will take some creativity.

I can think of two options:

1) Go to the fans, and ask for specific ones. Many folks will have them on tape, and many folks will know when they're next coming on. To this end, the apocrypha list I co-run (www.podengo.com/apocrypha/list.html) comes with a weekly episode listings update, so you'll know if specific episodes are coming up, if you get no reply from fans. (Asking on the list or the L&O newsgroup are great ways to start.)

2) Depending on who your thesis is for, you might be able to call NBC publicity, explain your situation, and ask for a copy of the episode. If it's for "educational purposes," there's a good chance they'll give it to you (probably on a VHS tape). NBC has headquarters in NY and LA, so just call information and go from there. Try not to get shuttled into public response, because that's a bottomless hole. Ask for corporate communications, or publicity for a particular show, and see what happens.

Hope some of this helps! Feel free to write back with more information.
