Lawns/water for kentucky blue grass

Question
What is the recommended acre feet of water per year of an acre of kentucky blue turfgrass.

Answer
It depends on a lot of factors and no two are alike.  Soil type, sunlight, humidity, temperatures, climate zone, etc. all play into the answer.

The truth is that the "rule of thumb" is between 1 - 2 inches of water per week of growth.  Cooler weather in Spring and Fall would require less, while dry, hotter weather in the Summer would need more.

If you are in an average area, with about 30 growing weeks a year, then 2 1/2 feet annually would seem sufficient.  Could be as low as two or as high as three.

I hope that answers the question okay?
