Lawns - acorns

Expert: Ronald B Persaud - 10/30/2009

Question
do acorns, left on lawn, help or hurt you
yard.  in the past it seems to make no differenc.  My neighbor thinks they should be
raked up.

thanks
carl

Answer
Acorns grow into oak trees but that is hardly likely to happen in a lawn that is mowed regularly. Deer apparently forage for acorns. I do not know if these are concerns to your neighbor. I would not worry about it. Also, I do not know how one would go about raking up the small seeds.
