Lawns - weed and feed

Expert: Ronald B Persaud - 10/27/2009

Question
Is it to late to weed in feed your lawn in late October. We live in central Virginia and have not gotten around to doing this application. Should I just feed my lawn or would weed and feed be better.

Answer
I am not sure what the weather is like in Virginia now, or for the next few weeks. If the weed killer part of the W&F product is a pre-emergent product, it is best to wait until the weed seeds are are likely to germinate, probably in the spring of next year. If the product is post-emergent, it should be applied when the weeds are visible and growing well.
Hope this answers your question.
