Lawns - weeds in asian jasmine

Expert: Ronald B Persaud - 6/30/2009

Question
I have planted a hillside with jasmine in weedcloth, but some weeds are coming up in the holes alongside the jasmine. What weed killer can I use that won't kill the jasmine?

Answer
I have sprayed glyphosate (41%) on Asiatic jasmine (Trachelospermum asiaticum) at the rate of 1 oz. in one gallon of water.  I spot-sprayed the weeds and they  were killed in about ten days. It discolored the jasmine faintly.
You can try that provided that you are accurate.
Otherwise it will be hand weeding.
