Expert: Mike Caldwell Date: 6/17/2008 Subject: Boston Tea Party
Question On which night of the many performed at the Boston Tea Party in january 1969 is actually the one from the 4+ hours show and which is the most complete recording of that show?
Answer By all current accounts, though not guaranteed, the likely show was that from January 26. It was their last show in Boston, and most of the legendary shows came from the final night. On top of which, the band had already embraced the atmosphere, and fans had returned from previous shows, thus establishing the legend of the "head bangers" who smashed their heads on the front of the stage.
I think the longest recording found was about 90 minutes. These were often confused with Fillmore East shows from the same tour. You can find some references to it here: http://www.argenteumastrum.com/1969.htm#19691
I'm not sure which one(s) have/had the 90 minute recording, most of the LPs and early CD bootlegs were only around 50 minutes.
