Question Hi, I'm trying to get a power of attorney for my mom. Does my mom's name has to be exactly as it is said on her driver's license or could it be abbreviated? For example, on her driver's license (not using her real name of course) is Mary Liu Chi Chan but on the power of attorney, I put it as Mary L Chan. Would that still work?
Answer Jackie,
It depends on the location where the Power of Attorney is being signed and/or where it is to be used. In most jurisdictions, it would be fine if that is the way she identifies herself but again, it is jurisdiction specific.
