Question
I am wondering how Nixon had the constitutional authority to freeze prices and wages since, as far as I know, the constitution gives the president no such power and, by giving congress explicit authority on economic matters, implicitly denies it to the president. And, if he had no such authority, was he not challenged? Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Answer Hi Bill,
I had the answer to your question formulated in my mind, when I remembered another source book I have at home. I'll be able to give you a much better answer with that 2nd source in my hands, so please give me the weekend to get home, get the book and get back to you.
My apologies if you're up against a deadline --
Jeff Coughlin
