Question Is there a governmental board or organization that reviews the documents of a presidential candidate to determine their veracity?
Answer Hi Peter,
I know of no such governmental board. This type of oversight is generally left to the "fourth plank" of our democracy -- the press.
In both the U.S. House and Senate, members may vote to deny a newly-elected member a seat in the chamber, based on any number of factors, including the veracity of their pre-election documents. The invocation of this right is exceptionally rare, though. In all but a small number of cases, Congress gets what its constiuents want.
