Question QUESTION: Mr. Obama said he wants to impose mandates on insurance companies, for example, to cover pre-existing conditions, lower copays, and not permit dropping people when the agreed upon limit in coverage is reached. He also speaks of requiring policies to cover preventive care. All sound good, but...
He also says he will lower the cost of healthcare. If all of the above requirements are imposed, wouldn't healthcare become more expensive? Or have I missed something? My question is, has the President mentioned how the projected savings will be realized, given the added costs of the mandates I've mentioned, plus others?
ANSWER: According to the Congessional Budget office a non-partician group, cost would rise dramatically
if Obama's plan was passed. Its close to a trillion dollars.

QUESTION: Mr. Zukowski, I recall the budget office report, now that you mention it, but I am now puzzled by the fact that the budget office report has not changed the President's message. He still seems to be saying that this plan is going to resolve the problem of healthcare's rising costs.
I'm not trying to be facetious, believe me, but why has the budget office report not caused the plan to be dropped, or significantly modified?
Has the president denied the accuracy of that report?
Answer No not really.
If you go back and look at what Obama has said in the past he wants a single payer system like the UK or Canada. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-bY92mcOdk
This is about the incrementalism.
He gets a little now that sets up the ultimate goal.
Talking about saving is simply a sales pitch.
Its why the message has not changed.
This is not different from the stimulus
The saving claims is a smoke screen in an attempt to sell it.
If saving were the true goal then they would have gone back to the drawing board
after the CBO report came out.
