Legislation, Presidential & Congressional Politics - Aberham Lincoln - John Carroll Power

Question
Dear Mike,
I saw where you answered a question about a book you saw at a rare book site.  May I please have the name of the site?  I have a book by the same author John Carroll Power, but written much earlier.

Life of Lincoln
John Carroll Power
1875
Monumental Edition
Publisher: Edwin A. Wilson & Co.

I would like to see if it's rare or has any significant value.  Thanks very much!
Gus

Answer
Hi Gus,

I saw a similar one published in 1882 sold for $20 at www.rubylane.com.  On the other hand, I saw an 1889 edition of a Lincoln book by Power on sale at www.alibris.com for $259.  So there is a real variation in price depending on the quality of the book and the demand for it.

There are lots of rare book sites on the internet.  One of the biggest is www.alibris.com.  But if you go to Google and type "Rare books" you will see thousands of them.

Since the price variation is so great, I recommend contacting several sites.

- Mike
