Question Local mechanic recently changed our timing belt only to have the engine light come on with a code of P1346. What's going on here. Is the timing belt installed incorrectly
Answer a p1346 pertains to the deviation in the crankshaft position sensor signal and the vvti sensor on bank 1. this is the back cylinders.
unfortunately the belt on this bank is off a tooth or more on the camshaft gear.this is a common error that seems to be caused by the unfavorable position that the marks on the cam gear is in. basically they are hard to see and get lined up.its an easy fix, and this will not damage your engine.all they have to do is put the engine at top dead center. remove top timing belt cover.remove belt tensioner.reposition #1bank cam gear to top dead center. it usually takes a mirror to get it right.reinstall belt and tensioner. turn crankshaft 2 complete times, and check that crankshaft and both cam gears marks are at top dead center.
