Question
QUESTION: Car overheated....Fix it
Car started making funny noise like bubbling water when pressing the gas and then it stop moving ground wire was hot and unscrew the cap on the engine a little smoke came out.....that was three days ago.... now this morning after we try to jump it several times they disconnected the battery and connected again the car started....I would like to know why it stop and wouldn't turn over or what can be the possible problem.....Stumped

ANSWER: WITH THE SMALL AMOUT OF INFO INCLUDED IN YOUR'RE QUESTION, THE SMOKE IS POSSIBLY STEAM AND BUBBLING NOISE IS POSSIBLY COOLANT FLOW. CHECK THE COOLANT LEVEL. THE NO START MAY BE POSSIBLY A BAD CONNECTION AT THE BATTERY. THIS MAY EXPLAIN WHY THEY DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY THEN IT STARTED UP. THAT ALL WOULD HAVE DUE TO LACK OF INFO INCLUDED IN YOU'RE QUESTION.

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Would the bubbling noise be cause by it just being water in the radiator or is there a blockage? 98 lexus Es300 147335 miles on it...It makes bubbling noise only when I press the gas in drive or when I press the gas at idling.

Answer
IT SOUNDS TO ME THAT YOU'RE HEARING THE COOLANT FLOW THROUGH THE HEATER CORE. KIND OF LIKE WATER RUNNING THROUGH A PIPE IN YOU'RE HOUSE. JUST STRAIGHT WATER WOULD NOT MATTER. YOU JUST HAVE TO MAKE SURE THAT THE COOLING SYSTEM IS FULL. NO AIR POCKETS. TURN ON HEATER FULL HOT. LET THE MOTOR WARM UP THEN MAKE SURE ITS FULL. HAVEN'T SEEN MANY PROBLEMS LIKE THIS IN ES'S.YOU MENTIONED EARLIER THAT WHEN YOU TOOK OFF THE RAD. CAP ON TOP OF THE MOTOR OFF YOU SAW SMOKE OR STEAM FROM IT. YOU SHOULD SEE COOLANT ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP. BE CAUTIOUS WHEN TAKING THAT CAP OF WHEN ENGINE IS HOT,BECAUSE THE COOLANT WILL BE ABOUT 180 PLUS DEGREES.
THATS ABOUT ALL I HAVE FOR YOU.
GOODLUCK
