Question
QUESTION: The drivers window on my 1995 Lexus LS400 will go down (when the ignition is off) and I open the rear doors or the drivers door; it stops when I turn on the ignition.   I was told by an independent shop it had something to do with the dome light and was controlled by a electronic module in the dash.   Any ideas or recommendations?

Thanks,
Jon Yates

ANSWER: IM KIND OF CONFUSED. WHEN YOU OPEN THE REAR DOORS OR THE DRIVERS DOOR, WITH THE KEY OFF.THE DRIVERS WINDOW GOES DOWN. IF YOU THEN TURN THE IGNITION OFF THE WINDOW STOPS CORRECT? WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU SHUT THE DOOR OR DOORS WHEN THE WINDOW IS GOING DOWN?

---------- FOLLOW-UP ----------

QUESTION: Charlie ...when the ignition is off the drivers window goes down if the door is unlocked by the keyless remote or if you unlock the trunk.  If you're lucky enough to start the car before the window is all the way down it will stop mid way.   With the car off (and the drivers window up) you can open any door and the window will go down.  If you close the door you opened the window continues to go down.  It's only if you're quick enough to start the car that you get it to stop.  Even if the window lock is on it will still go down.  This is more of a nuisance than anything else.

Answer
BY STUDYING THE WIRING DIAGRAM, AND SHORT OF BEING THERE AND PERFORMING SOME PIN CHECKS AND DIAGNOSTICS, MY BEST EDUCATED GUESS WOULD BE A DRIVERS FRONT DOOR ECU, THEN A BODY ECU. I MIGHT WANT TO TAKE IT TO A LEXUS DEALER, THEY HAVE MORE RESOURCES AVAILABLE.
