2001 Lexus RX 300 6 cyl All Wheel Drive Automatic 160000 miles

my car was not running after it started and in park. so i cleaned the idle speed control valve and bolted it back on. i must have done something wrong since it now idles to high it is a at 2000 rps in park , it is like someone is pushin the gas in.

Answer
Check your vacuum hoses, if you removed the throttle body to perform this repair you would have several hoses to reattach.  Don't forget the one on the bottom of the throttle body.  You can spray starting fluid around the general area to see if it affects the idle, indicating a vacuum leak somewhere.  Also, these Idle air control valves are very finicky, if you dislodged some debris into the barrel the valve rotates in it will likely stick.  Verify all this is ok first, and let me know the results.
