Question
Please could you define the term "knowledge organization" for me? Are there any other terms which have the same meaning or a similar one?

Answer
Below is is the standard definition of a knowledge organization. In essence, it is the way an organization uses and organizes its information within the company. It involves cataloging, structuring, and disseminating information to the people who need the information when they need it.


"A knowledge organization is a management idea, describing an organization in which people use systems and processes to generate, transform, manage, use, and transfer knowledge-based products and services to achieve organizational goals. A knowledge organization also links past, present, and future by capturing and preserving knowledge in the past, sharing and mobilizing knowledge today, and learning and adapting to sustain itself in the future.

Knowledge organizations can be viewed from a number of perspectives: their general nature, networks, behavior, human dimensions, communications, intelligence, functions, and services."
