Question
My mother is now 89 years old.  We discovered that she turned in all of her insurance policies to remodel her home for my brother several years ago that was left a paraplegic after an accident.  Are there complanies out there that insure 89 year people that is physically healthy.

Answer
Hi Cheryl---the short answer:  yes and I have such programs available.  The insured must be a non-smoker and in the last 5 years have no heart attack, no stroke and no cancer.  We understand folks of this age aren't always the picture of health but if everything is under control, odds are we can get her insured.

Please send me an email so I can respond in more detail privately, and also please advise what state your mom lives in.  Also be thinking about a living trust for her if she doesn't already have one as this avoids probate expenses and costs upon her death.

My email is:  steinway@azbar.org
