My Mom is 60 years old. She had a triple-bypass surgery 4 years ago and is on heart medications. She is not eligible for a group plan and is not employed. State insurance is very expensive. Are there any other options for her? She has been a widow for 9 years.

Each state has different programs offered to those that are uninsurable on an individual basis. Insurance through your state sponsored program is probably the best alternative, but I would contact them ask ask if thre is any other assistance available. Call the Department of Insurance in your state. They will know of any programs available as well.
