Question Age: 32
Tennessee
My husband is self employed but he did finally get insurance just in the past few weeks for him and our daughter. I on the other hand do not know where to turn for insurance. I have been denied in the past (several years ago) for the following reasons: Height to weight ratio, medical conditions. Basically I am morbidly obese, 5'8" 318 lbs, and I am on medication for depression, anxiety, migraines, acid reflux and colitis. I checked with TN.GOV and applied for what they had available and was told we make too much money. I thought that there was a state paid tenncare program but have not been able to locate anything. Sorry for the length of this but wanted to provide as much info as possible. I am willing to pay up to $400 a month for insurance but need something reasonable like co-pays and not an insane deductible and so on. Thank you for any help you can provide me with.
Answer Hi Kelly,
Your best bet would be to have your husband obtain a small group plan if he has enough employees and then he could add you and your daughter onto the plan. Another option is to obtain a guaranteed issue plan through TN. You can find more information here http://www.covertn.gov/
