I will answer questions of a general nature regarding life insurance, disability income insurance annuities (fixed and variable) and long term care insurance. Also, questions regarding estate analysis. No legal or accounting advice, as I am not a lawyer or a CPA. Life & Health Insurance - US Army life Insurance from 1944

Expert: Dave Bowman - 5/30/2009

Question
My dad died in 1985 and I just found a booklet that says
"Soldier's Individual Pay Record" and on page 2 it shows
he had insurance amount of 10,000  and insurance premium
monthly amount of 1.45.
My question is does this policy still exist or did it end
when he finished his military service?

Answer
Contact the Veteran's Administration and provide your Dad's old military I.D. number or at least his Social Security number. Many veterans kept the old NSLI policies when they left the military, but had to pay the premiums to keep them in force.  Hope this works out for you.
