AboutR. Gene Ramsay Expertise I can answer questions from people regarding health, life, and supplemental insurance. I can also answer certain annuity questions,
long-term care, medicare, vision, dental, group products, individual
products, and certain carriers. Another area would be general discussion on an individual basis to determine need and help individuals make the right decisions for them. I can also field questions from other insurance
providers about carriers I represent so we can do some business together and I am also willing to offer my thoughts on certain issues they may be having
with clients/customers, etc.

Question on June 1st I will be enrolled in a group insurance plan at work with the
Anthem network. It is a Blue Access ppo plan basically with a 20opay and a
tiered copay deal on prescriptions. Also there is a vision and a dental plan. I
am not comfortable with the 20opay and would like a supplemental plan that
would cover most anything my plan doesnt. Can you lead me in the right
direction? Thanks--Dave
Answer Dave,
Congrats on the new offering.
I am not sure what you are used to, but a $20.00 copay for visits is not bad in today's topsy turvy insurance economy. As for supplemental insurance to help cover some costs I know there are plenty of plans out there called "Hospital Confinement" or "Medical Bridge" policies that can help a little. Usually these policies will help you with so many visit costs per year by sending you a wellness benefit for general visits once per year and then if something MAJOR happens (hospitalization, surgery, etc) if can pay amounts directly to you to help offset costs. Many times your employer will have access to a company so you can payroll deduct while you are employed there. Just be sure that whatever plan and company you have access to that what you are getting fits with what your potential out of pocket could be if something major were to happen. Just remember, the more healthy you are on your own means less usage and less usage means better rates and coverage. You want to help yourself the most...stay healthy and do not rely on health insurance to keep you going. That, in my opinion, is one of the problems with healthcare today (OK, soapbox gone).
