About Dave Bowman
Expertise
I will answer questions of a general nature regarding life insurance, disability income insurance annuities (fixed and variable) and long term care insurance. Also, questions regarding estate analysis. No legal or accounting advice, as I am not a lawyer or a CPA. I do not sell health insurance, so have limited knowledge of the current status of that field.

Life & Health Insurance - LTC

Question
What are days in LTC when the bed is not being used called ? Say my grandmother wanted to come home for the weekend.

Answer
This is called a bed reservation benefit. A long term care insurance policy usually provides for a bed reservation of say, thirty days a year so that the individual can come back to the nursing home when their visit home or hospital stay is over.  You may refer to the policy itself if you already own long term care, or a sample policy or outline of coverage if you are considering a policy.
