Life & Health Insurance - Life and Health Insurance Exam /State of NJ

Expert: Willard R. Brumbaugh, LUTCF, CSFP - 6/6/2009

Question
I am studying to take my state exam . What is series 6 & 7 and would I get this licence after my Life and Health ? So many of the questions asked on the exam are not in my book. I passed all my tests to qualify with flying colors. I cannot seem to pass the state exam. Any suggestions ? I also purchased Kaplan Financial online course to help with studying.

Answer
Dear Angelina,

It would appear that Kaplan is more interested in marketing securities than selling life insurance. I suggest that you contact the New Jersey Department of insurance to learn of what life insurance schools qualify you to take successfully the insurance exam.

You do not need a Series 6 or 7 to sell conventional Life insurance products, such as traditional Whole Life, Term or Universal Life insurance policies and Fixed or Fixed Indexed Annuities. You would need at least the Series 6 to sell Variable Annuities, Variable Life Insurance and Mutual Funds. None of these Series 6 products is a safe financial vehicle.

I suggest that you look to a different marketing organization for training, but not Primerica. Anything to do with Primerica I have found to be unprofessional and misleading.
