Life & Health Insurance - Life Insurance Claim

Expert: Willard R. Brumbaugh, LUTCF, CSFP - 6/2/2009

Question
My Dad Passed away Sept. 27th, 2006. We found a Rio Grande Life Insurance policy in his files. How can I find out if the claim is good.

Answer
Dear Jimmy,

Those that I have answered have not passed on to me their results, so I can only guess that they were satisfied. Below are numbers that might work for you.

JP phone# (336) 691-3000
LL phone# (864) 609-8111
Lincoln National (866) 835-3223 extension 17120. I think her name is Jane.

These are numbers that have been given to me. Once you have checked these out, would you please e-mail me at willardbrumbaugh@yahoo.com your results. I have had several requests about RGNL. I appears that I may get more.

In light of the fact that he died so long ago, one would expect the policy would have lapsed for non-payment of premiums. Do not be put off by such a statement by whichever company that took over the book of business that included your dad. Once you have demonstrated his inability to pay premiums, the policy would be restored to the status that it had at the time of his death.
