I can answer questions from people regarding health, life, and supplemental insurance. I can also answer certain annuity questions, long-term care, medicare, vision, dental, group products, individual products, and certain carriers. Another area would be general discussion on an individual basis to determine need and help individuals make the right decisions for them. I can also field questions from other insurance providers about carriers I represent so we can do some business together and I am also willing to offer my thoughts on certain issues they may be having with clients/customers, etc.

Life & Health Insurance - Deductible per person

Expert: R. Gene Ramsay - 8/22/2009

Question
Next year my wife and I want to immigrate to Florida United States. We are now citizens of The Netherlands in Europe. We are both 61 years old, so a good health plan is very important for us.
I can find a lot of information on the internet but I have still some questions concerning the deductible. If I select the Family Plans (2 persons) than internet shows me several plans with the premium per month per family. Now the family plan also mentions the deductible. Is the deductible per family or per person? E.g.: the HSA 100 plan shows a deductible of $ 2.500 or $ 5.000 but in the description there is not mentioned if the deductible is per person or per family.

Answer
Frans,

Good luck in your arrival to the US.

Florida has MANY options.  What I would do, to help you the best, is find an agent in Florida who deals in health care coverage.  Get them to shop based on your need and have him do the leg work.  There is usually no extra charge for that service as he will most likely be paid a commission on whoever you choose.

You should be able to find one near where you will be living on the Department of Insurance website for Florida.

Hope that helps.
