AboutR. Gene Ramsay Expertise I can answer questions from people regarding health, life, and supplemental insurance. I can also answer certain annuity questions,
long-term care, medicare, vision, dental, group products, individual
products, and certain carriers. Another area would be general discussion on an individual basis to determine need and help individuals make the right decisions for them. I can also field questions from other insurance
providers about carriers I represent so we can do some business together and I am also willing to offer my thoughts on certain issues they may be having
with clients/customers, etc.

Question 1. Within this industry where would my Bachelor Degree place me in seeking post graduate employment without medical experience?
2. Specialized Medical Case Managers are needed with HIV clients, and what are those standards including any other specialized titles with standards which could pertain to me? If any additional classes would accomplish my hiring within specialized cases, what would be required?
3. Requirements as the liaison, who would be my contacts and what would the required forms of communication and follow-up include?
4. What will be expected of me (attach job description if available)? Would there be a mentor available? Additionally, would there be scheduled training and/or classes to attend, perhaps including an on-going process?
5. What principles should guide my communication with colleagues and clients?
6. What professional attire, conduct, and working schedule would become typical? With job experience I can apply for certification, a personal objective in furthering my career, and will that make a difference in my job description once achieved?
7. Stress to be expected including compassion-stress while establishing clients’ wellness needs?
NOTE: Include any additional information I may need in establishing the best area suited for me based on BS, without prior medical experience, upon graduation within Medical Case Management.
Answer Linda,
You have many questions here and I will see what I can do to assist.
1. Within this industry where would my Bachelor Degree place me in seeking post graduate employment without medical experience?
- Since the majority of insurance focuses on sales, I am not sure. Underwriting could be a good fit.
2. Specialized Medical Case Managers are needed with HIV clients, and what are those standards including any other specialized titles with standards which could pertain to me? If any additional classes would accomplish my hiring within specialized cases, what would be required?
- I am not familiar with what you are asking here. Again, Underwriting would be where you might best fit in the insurance industry.
3. Requirements as the liaison, who would be my contacts and what would the required forms of communication and follow-up include?
- Again, not sure what you are asking. If by "liaison" you mean sales, then you would have various contacts with insurance companies that you might use to help assist in acquiring insurance for people.
4. What will be expected of me (attach job description if available)? Would there be a mentor available? Additionally, would there be scheduled training and/or classes to attend, perhaps including an on-going process?
- There and various people in this indusry of insurance. People who are retired form other jobs, people who enjoy sales, single moms, BA Degrees...you name it. You have to have a willingness to serve others and assist within the licensing and laws of the insurance industry and Department in your state.
5. What principles should guide my communication with colleagues and clients?
- Professional, polite, and personal.
6. What professional attire, conduct, and working schedule would become typical? With job experience I can apply for certification, a personal objective in furthering my career, and will that make a difference in my job description once achieved?
- In this industry, the conservative "banker look" is always appreciated and in many cases expected. Any certifications will add to your knowledge and abilities. Many people place those classifications next to their name. Those classifications must be reevaluated form time to time, so continuing education courses will be a must.
7. Stress to be expected including compassion-stress while establishing clients’ wellness needs?
- The hardest thing to get over is having to tell someone "I'm sorry, but I just can't help you because...". Happens all the time as people have not taken good care of themselvesor have ailments which make them ineligible for coverages.
NOTE: Include any additional information I may need in establishing the best area suited for me based on BS, without prior medical experience, upon graduation within Medical Case Management.
I hope any of this helps. This industry needs people who take what this professional environment needs but someone who is also compassionate with people who are lookign to you for help.
