Question My life partner was diagnosed with liver cancer last week, 3/19/09 and the tumor has taken about 80% of the liver. Not sure the amount of time he has left. He is at home at this time and today he slept all day and went back to slept a couple of hours after awakened. Could the sleep issue be from Morphine and Perkacet or is it a symptom of how much longer he has? If it is a symtom how longer could you suggest? I know there are no simple answers?
Answer Melody,
It is hard to say over the internet what is causing your significant other's sleep. Certainly, the medications could cause sleepiness. Also, the body starts to shut down and demands more sleep to preserve the functioning of the organs.
It is good that you can share this period of time with your partner. I hope you both find peace in this difficult time.
