We recently bought a glass top dining room table, and have been looking to update our chandelier. While out shopping yesterday, I noticed many of the chandeliers on display have glass bell-shaped covers over the light bulbs. Some of these direct the light down, others up.
We found one that we liked, with the bulbs pointing down. Our only concern is that with the light pointing down, we might get too much reflection off the table. What do you think or will others reflect just as much?
Thanks for your help.
Answer I have never heard of this reflection problem with any chandelier either up or down.
I suggest that you simply select the appropriate size chandelier which is most appealing to you. The down light chandelier will provide somewhat more light onto the table compared to an identical up light chandelier. I suggest a dimmer switch control so that you can get maximum light output when needed or you can create a more subtle atmosphere with the lower light output.
Good luck on your project.
Thanks and Best Regards, Jim Hoyle
