Lincoln/Mercury Repair - Gas tank noise

Expert: Dinger - 12/9/2006

Question
Good to see that there are more pats fans on the web. 97 grand marquis. burping noise coming from gas tank. Sounds like the air is not leaving the tank. It is a loud sound and the car vibrates. happens when 1/2 filled down to about a 1/4 tank.

Answer
Hi John,

I think your fuel pump is trying to tell you something! There is a vent tube that could become clogged, I really don't think so though. I think it's going to need the fuel pump replaced eventually. Probably should do it before it leaves you stranded.
