Lincoln/Mercury Repair - keyless entry issues 2006 Merc GM

Expert: Dinger - 12/23/2006

Question
Dinger,
Sorry, but I have one more question. I will be taking the trailer hitch assembly off my 94 Towncar and putting it on the 06 Merc. U-haul says it is the same hitch for both applications :)

Problem is the wiring. i removed the trailer connector wiring from the Lincoln, but the wires on the Merc are different colors. I looked everywhere I could to find an explaination of wire colors on the car. Can'r find anything. In your vast experience and resource, could you tell me what wires are what in the main harness leading to the tail lights in the trunk of the 06?

Can you just move next door to me so I can save my fingers all this typing :)

Thank you again in advance, I very much appreciate your help.

Mike

-----Question-----
Yesterday I bought a 2006 Merc Grand Marques. Didn't get an owners manual. After reading previous posts here I learned the keyless entry is also located on the module under the seat (awesome) since all other stickers had been removed. Problem seems to be that there is no power on the keypad. I thought when I entered numbers the keypad would light up (lights inside the car, ect, something). All connections that I could see look ok. Remote works correctly. Am I missing something here? Is there some way that perhaps the keyless entry system is disabled? Turned off? Blown fuse? this car only has 4000 miles so unless it came from the factory like this I can't imagine what might be wrong. Any and all assistance is appreciated and welcomed. I did call my local Merc dealer who didn't seem very interested to help me after he learned I didn't purchase the car from him. Please help!

Also, any idea where I might get an owners manual? Thanks again :)
-----Answer-----
Mike,

That car is under factory warranty so no matter how disinterested they sounded, they own this repair. Take it to the dealer and have them fix it for free.

Answer
LOL, I don't know Mike, I sure like it here in Vegas! With this you will be spicing into the wiring in the trunk. 2006 is so new that there is now wiring info in my sneaky helper program, but I have a wiring diagram for the 05. Probably in the top five of the worse pictures supplied to me by Ford! LOL You are welcome to it but I will need your e-mail address. Merry Christmas! I'm going to go play cards, if you get this right back to me I will shoot it off to you, otherwise, bear with me and I'll get it to you this evening.
