Question
two errors code po 731 first gear  in correction ratio po734 fourt gear in correction ratio

Answer
Hi Richard,

These are "death" codes for a transmission. Unless you are low on fluid (which you can't check yourself) these codes mean your transmission is slipping in those gears. If you were low on fluid these would have been accompanied by a loss of prime code. So, unfortunately, you will need to have your transmission rebuilt to correct this issue. Make sure where you take it to knows the updates. There is a spring in the valve body the absolutely must be upgraded in that 5R55 or you will not have a successful overhaul and you will be taking it back 100 times for them to figure it out. I strongly suggest, with that car, to go to Cottman or Aamco. Cottman guys are very good and a bit less expensive on the average, but Aamco guys are the best in the business, bar none. Been there done that, have a closet full of t-shirts... from both.
