Living on a Budget, Saving Money/Poor?

Question
If you live on welfare and medicaid, does that mean that you are poor but you don't live under poor conditions?
Are low income and poor the same?
But what if you have more than what you need?
Plus you have the basic neccessities?
Does this make you poor?

Answer
Dear Cgllr,
Living on welfare and medicaid certainly qualifies one to be "low income" but hardly poor conditions.  Those living off of the "benefits" of welfare and medicaid hardly have life as difficult as the working poor, which are those that are working, but making just enough to keep them from qualifying for the freebies like medicaid, but not earning enough to actually be comfortable or even cover the basic necessities.
In this country, and this government, welfare is a much higher standard of living than actually working for a living at minimum wage.
Kind Regards,
KD
