Living With Disabilities - Developmental centers

Question
I'm not sure if you're the right person to ask; please forgive me if you're not.  I have Asperger's syndrome, and a really unhelpful life at home, so I'm trying to get into a residential facility/developmental center.  But I can't seem to find any information on what life in one of those is like.  What you're allowed to have with you, what you need to bring with you, how much freedome you have, etc.  Can you tell me where I could find this information?  Thank you.

Answer
Hi Amber,

Thanks for the question. I am the right person to ask.

All residential facilities have different rules. Whatever program you are looking into should have a resident handbook that outlines what your responsibilities are. Make sure you ask for one.

Other than that, you should know that living with groups of folks means that you may need to share resources like transportation, television, bathrooms, bedroom etc... You should find out what will need to be shared.

I hope this information is helpful. Let me know if you have any more questions.
