Locksmithing/Corbin lockset

Question
Hello,
I have an interior door in my office that has a corbin lockset on it and I want to remove it in order to repair it.  When you turn the knob, the bolt? does not move with it.  In an attempt to remove the knob, I have unscrewed the two faceplates to reveal the inside of the knob.  I have searched the thing through and through and cannot find a means of removing the knob and spindle.  It looks like a standard key-entry lockset, but surely it doesn't need to be so difficult!  Thanks for your time.

Answer
Hello James,

Some of those are tubular locksets which means the lock body hooks onto the latch instead of going through the latch mechanism as most locks do.  Sometimes they get disconnected which could be the cause.

If you removed the inside trim piece you should see the knob housing inside the door where it connects to the latch mechanism.  The slot for that should be facing you which will allow you to slide the outside assembly off.  It may have been installed into the hole that is a bit too small so it may be tight.

If you can attach a photo or two it may help.
