Locksmithing - Manual door lock sticks in Toyota Echo

Expert: Lynn Chambers - 2/26/2009

Question
Hi Lynn,   I have a 2000 Toyota Echo with manual key door locks (no power or remote).   For about 6 months my driver's side door lock has been sticking routinely.  I have to jiggle the key inside the lock - sometimes quite a lot to get the door to open.   Lately, it hasn't been opening at all.   Is there anything I can to do to get it to loosen up before I have to have the cylinder replaced?  Thanks, Kat

Answer
Does this key operate all the other locks fine? If so,then the door lock may have some trash in it,or be bad. Either way,you need a locksmith.
The new door locks come un-combinated,usually so the locksmith can re-key the new lock to your existing key. Hope this helps.
